Norman and Beard built
our three manual pipe instrument in 1904.
Situated in a gallery on the south side of the chancel, it sounds as
good today as when it was built. It has 23 speaking stops, including diapasons,
flutes, oboe, clarinet, horn, and trumpet. There are also 9 couplers, 12 thumb
pistons and 4 foot pistons. Our organ
recitals really show off its versatility - and of course it does much to
enhance the music at our services.
Further details of the organ can be found here
(index number N16116)
Informal recitals are
usually held once a month (not during the winter months) at 8:00 pm. On these Sundays there is a Choral evensong
at 6:30 pm followed by refreshments at 7:20 pm.
In addition there are some daytime concerts some of which may be
accompanied by some form of refreshments.
Recitals are mostly
given on the organ, but sometimes will be performed on the piano or by a local
Recorder consort. For Sunday Evening
recitals, a donation towards the Organ Fund is requested. We suggest a donation of £5:00 including the
supper or £3:00 for just the recital.
